MISSISSIPPI OPEN CHECKER TOURNAMENT

A MISSISSIPPI OFFICERS’ MEETING was held and Sam Parker recommended that Clayton Nash be made Vice-President. Bill Parker seconded and it carried. It was also approved to continue with the current officers: Sam Parker, President; Clayton Nash, Vice-President (a new position); Dr. Joe Fasold, Secretary/Treasurer.

The Round Robin System was approved and Referee Charles Walker stated the tournament would stop at noon for lunch and he would award door prizes and awards for the Youth Division after lunch.

There being no further business the meeting was adjourned (See agenda of the day’s activities).

There were 26 players in Five Divisions and 34 supporters and spectators plus the news media.

The Youth Division and Amateur Men and Women Players also received prizes and door prizes were awarded to five people. Charles Walker told the News Media that he was pleased with the turnout for the Grand Re-Opening of the ICHF and expects an even larger turnout next year.

Everyone received prizes and certificates.  The other groups also received cash prizes and certificates.
Total cash prize fund was $400.00. The gifts $300.00. The food $300.00 and the certificates $5.00  Everyone had a great time.

  7. MASTERS – RATING 1900 AND UP WILL PLAY 3-MOVE “SWISS SYSTEM” USING THE MOVE FORM

    NO SMOKING INSIDE – NO PROFANITY, CURSING OR UNSPORTSMANLIKE CONDUCT WILL BE PERMITTED. THERE IS A PENALTY FOR DELAY OF GAME.

    MEN’S RESTROOM ON MY LEFT; LADIES’ RESTROOM ON RIGHT.

    ONLY THREE PRE-ARRANGED LADIES SHOULD BE IN THE KITCHEN. OTHERS MAY HELP WITH THE CHILDREN (SEE CHARLES WALKER). THE SERVING WINDOW WILL BE CLOSED UNTIL 12 A.M. WHEN LUNCH WILL BE SERVED.

    THE BACK TABLE AND CHAIRS ARE RESERVED FOR SPECTATORS AND ADULTS TO EAT. PLAYERS MAY EAT AT THEIR PLAYING TABLES.

    PICTURE TAKING IS PERMITTED WITHOUT A FLASH.

    PLEASE GO OUTSIDE TO TALK – OTHERWISE WHISPER.

    IF YOU HAVE NOT ALREADY DONE SO – GET A TICKET FOR THE DOOR PRIZE DRAWINGS.

    THERE ARE TWO GARBAGE CONTAINERS ON EACH SIDE OF THE SERVING WINDOW FOR YOUR PAPER PLATES AND CUPS. PUT YOUR PLASTIC FORKS, ETC. IN THE CONTAINER ON TOP OF THE GARBAGE CONTAINERS.

    PRIZES AND CERTIFICATES FOR THE BEGINNING MEN, LADIES AND CHILDREN’S DIVISIONS WILL BE PRESENTED FROM 12:30 A.M. TO 1:00 P.M. (INCLUDING DOOR PRIZES IN CASE SOME NEED TO GO).

    1:00 P.M. THE STRONGER DIVISIONS WILL START BACK AT 1:00 P.M. AND CONTINUE UNTIL EACH CATEGORY IS FINISHED. THEN CASH AWARDS AND CERTIFICATES WILL BE PRESENTED TO THEM.

    PUT YOUR NAME ON YOUR SCORE CARD (SAVE ROOM TO PRINT YOUR OPPONENT’S NAME). WHEN TWO PLAYERS FINISH THEIR TWO GAMES – BOTH COME SEE ME. NOTE: YOU GET 2 POINTS FOR A WIN – 1 POINT FOR A DRAW – 0 POINTS FOR A LOSS.
